The story of Carol

Carol Lynne Gould, loving wife, mother, Gigi, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away at home surrounded by her husband and sons after a brave, two year battle with aggressive cancer on May 28, 2023.

Carol was born on October 22, 1959 in Idaho Falls, ID to Burt Raymond and Anna Laura Wheeler. She was the fifth of six children and had a mischievous, spunky spirit. Carol could often be found swimming in the canal, riding her horse, Charlie, or causing trouble with her “twin” Darcy.

Carol attended BYU Hawaii where she graduated with a degree in Political Science. While she was there she met and fell in love with her husband, Robert Charles Gould in 1978. Carol and Rob were sealed for time and all eternity on May 18, 1979 in the Idaho Falls, ID temple. They spent the first years of their marriage in Hawaii. Their love of Hawaii continued throughout their lives, and they traveled there often with their family and friends.

Carol and Rob moved to Chandler, AZ in 1986 and welcomed their first child, Daniel Robert, that same year. Nicholas Michael followed in 1989 and baby Kyle Jacob came in 1993. Carol was a dedicated, loving, and adventurous mother. Dan, Nick, and Jake, her “Wonder Boys” were the light of her life, and she found so much joy in motherhood.

Carol was an amazing teacher. She began her teaching career in 1988 and taught for over 30 years. She loved her students and truly loved to share her passion for history and government throughout the years.

Carol was an avid gym rat, hiker, and traveler. She traveled the world and always invited her loved ones to join. She and her sister, Darcy, especially loved to travel together and they made the most of every moment.

Carol had a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and shared it often. She served in many callings within her church, but her favorite callings always included teaching, and Carol was great at it!

She would often remind us that “mama’s are awesome!” Our mama certainly was, and we miss her dearly. We love you, Gigi!

Carol is predeceased by her father Burt Raymond Wheeler, and her brother, Michael Burt Wheeler. She is survived by her husband, Rob, her mother, Anna, sons Dan (Ashley), Nick (Kendall), Jake (Malia) and grandchildren Brooks, Jackson, Elle, Tate, Everett, Nash, Madden, and another sweet boy coming in July, as well as her siblings Richard, Scott, Kristy, and Darcy.

Her family would like to invite all who knew and loved Carol to come celebrate her life on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 10:00 am at the LDS church building at 1950 W. Galveston St., Chandler, AZ 85224.

I was a former student of Mrs.Gould back in my time at Chandler High. I was a student in her Academic Decathlon Class for 2/3 years. During 2020, I started going through one of the hardest times of my life since not only was I continuing to be actively abused , but I was then stuck in the abusive ho...
